Evolution of Nero

Read about the evolution of Nero step by step and find out how it became so popular.
Nero AG, the German company responsible for creating the massively popular suite of media authoring and management products currently in its thirteenth version (as on early 2013), started life as Ahead software in 1995, changing it's name to the current Nero in 2005.

For a significant period of time Nero AG's major claim to fame was the “Nero Burning Rom” utility, which was quite a pioneer in its time. Nero had foreseen the multimedia explosion, and quickly moved to create an awesome product designed to allow users to author their preferred types of content (movies, music picture albums etc) across a wide variety of formats.

This was a triumph because the powerful media management software brought personalised content authoring within the power of regular users without hacker-level skills running mass-market machines. The simple-to-use wizard format was a particular hit, since it allowed practically anybody the capacity to use the entire range of features while most of the technical details were abstracted in the foreground.

Another popular aspect of the software was it's crisp interface which simplified usage by avoiding clutter and froever being geared towards helping people get their task done.
